Learn2Rescue course vary in cost, from free to £1500 depending on the duration, organisation status and budget.
Qualifications and accreditations
Learn2Rescue courses are run with the same criteria as most awarding bodies. If an accreditation is required for your organisation, it can be arranged k but will add another 25% onto the course coisrt
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) does not approve first aid training providers directly (except for specialists on offshore installations). Instead, the HSE sets out the standards and recommendations that employers must follow when selecting a competent training provider and determining the appropriate level of first aid training.
Risk
For insurance purposes and in the worst case scenario, an inquest or investigation, the main question that will be asked is to see a risk assessment. The risk assessment is a document that demonstrates the organisation has carefully considered and mitigated first aid and other dangerous occurrences that can be reasonably expected. This will also help you decide what course is best suited to you.
Course aims and Objectives
L2R courses are recommended by the Resuscitation Council UK, HSE, Ofsted and the General Dental Council. It is intended that participants will have a good working knowledge of life support at the level the course chosen outlines.
Teaching Style and Trainer Expectations
It is intended that this course provides a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in which to learn. Delegates are requested to make arrangements for the phones to be answered and for there to be no disruptions. Your trainer will expect participants to engage and cooperate in sessions, and make the trainer aware of any difficulties.
Course Evaluation
All Learn2Rescue courses are evaluated. At the start of the course participants will be informed that all delegates will be asked to give fair and honest feedback in order to help with continual course adjustments and maintain high levels of education and tutor development.
Payment
A 25% deposit is normally paid to secure the booking and the balance required two weeks of before start date. In case of last minute cancellation, deposits are not usually refundable, as trainers will require remuneration.
Logistics
The room used should have enough space for participants to practise recovery positions. Refreshment arrangements are the responsibility to the venue, unless L2R have agreed separately to make provisions. Participants are reminded to wear comfortable clothes as the group will need to demonstrate putting each other into the recovery position. Ladies should not wear low cut tops and trousers are recommended, gentleman are asked not to wear shorts. Participants will need to be able to do CPR which requires a certain amount of physical work. The presenter may want to project slides onto a space on the wall. There will be time for a break in the middle, but it is preferred staff do not return to their offices to start with office work. Please let L2R know if there are parking restrictions and any specific needs relating to your staff, and if you have more than 12 members of staff attending.

⚕️ Key HSE Recommendations for First Aid Training
The HSE's recommendations focus on the employer's responsibility to ensure the training is adequate and appropriate, and that the provider is competent.
1. Training Provider Competence
Employers are responsible for ensuring their chosen training provider is competent. Providers typically fall into four main categories, all of which should be assessed for competence:
* Regulated Qualifications: Offered by an awarding organisation (AO) and recognised and regulated by bodies like Ofqual (England), SQA (Scotland), or the Welsh Government.
* Voluntary Approval Schemes: Schemes such as a trade body accredited by a third party (like the UKAS).
* Independent Training: Where the provider can provide proof of their competence.
* Voluntary Aid Societies: Training from one of the three recognised societies: St John Ambulance, British Red Cross, or St Andrew's First Aid.
When checking a provider's suitability, key things to look for are:
* Trainer Qualifications: The trainers should hold a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education and Training) and demonstrate current, occupational knowledge and competence in first aid.
* Quality Assurance: The provider should have internal quality assurance processes, including standardised course materials, observation, assessment records, and audits.
* Up-to-Date Content: The training must follow the nationally agreed syllabus and include sufficient practical elements and assessments, reflecting current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines.
2. Training Content and Duration
The training must meet the minimum standards for the qualification type:

Training should include sufficient practical elements and assessments for skills like CPR.
3. First Aider Requirements
The number and level of training required are determined by a First Aid Needs Assessment, which should consider:
* The nature of your work (hazards and risks).
* The size of your organisation and location.
* The presence of non-employees (e.g., the public, children in schools).
* The particular needs of young workers, trainees, pregnant workers, or employees with specific physical or mental health problems.
* The assessment should also consider the risk of life-threatening bleeding and, since recent guidance updates, the provision for mental health first aid.
4. Certification and Refresher Training
* Upon successful completion, delegates must receive a certificate valid for 3 years, clearly stating the course title and confirming it meets HSE requirements.
* The HSE strongly recommends that first aiders requalify within a month of their certificate expiring.
* Annual refresher training is also strongly recommended during the three-year certification period to keep skills up to date.
